The interactive corner for the Milan Furniture Fair

KitchenAid is a Whirlpool Group brand and an American company that has produced major and small domestic appliances for the kitchen since 1919. KitchenAid products have epitomised the perfect blend of professional performance, artisanal quality and iconic design for almost a century.
KitchenAid wanted a digital solution that would emphasise its tradition of artisanal craftsmanship for the 2018 Salone del Mobile (Milan Furniture Fair). To this end, we created a bridge between the physical and digital experience by setting up an interactive table in the area dedicated to artisanal craftsmanship. The products were fitted with sensors that enabled the public to discover the secrets of how the products are made by simply moving them on the table top. The system could identify the movement of each individual product and activate the relevant video clips.

Sensors: between physical and digital interaction

An invisible bridge between real objects and video content

The initial idea was to favour the physical contact between consumers and KitchenAid products, turning them into interactive objects.

Thanks to the programmed sensors positioned under each product, the system was able to detect the movement of each object through a reader hidden within the table. This in turn regulated the redistribution of the contents visible on the monitor
