In brief
The need for a mobile solution at the point of sale, however, is not exclusive to the customer. Indeed, retailers are increasingly expressing the need to use mobile devices in-store to simplify and streamline the many back-end processes that are usually performed on desktop workstations behind the scenes.

In redesigning a customer experience tailored to the customer, retailers have had to consider mobile devices among the many touch points in their strategy. And with good reason. According to a global Google survey, 36% of respondents said they use their smartphone in the store to either doing research or purchases. Mobile devices are set to play a significant role also in the store. In fact, consumers said that in the future they will use in-store mobile payments (49%), will contact the company’s customer service via mobile messaging (40%), and will use digital assistants for their shopping and lists (33%). Consumers also expect to get offers on their smartphone while in store (43%).

A tool at the service of the retailer

The need for a mobile solution at the point of sale, however, is not exclusive to the customer. Indeed, retailers are increasingly expressing the need to use mobile devices in-store to simplify and streamline the many back-end processes that are usually performed on desktop workstations behind the scenes.

Operators are therefore looking for a solution capable of making the mobile experience more immediate and flexible also from the retailer’s side. In fact, the ability to directly manage from the tablet or smartphone the typical store operations (such as transmitting/placing orders, price list changes, etc.) represents an absolute plus.

Which solution? ICONIC MOBILE

As mentioned, simplicity in the mobile experience is something that involves not only the end user, but also retailers, who can benefit from an intuitive and digitalized experience to the fullest thanks to Iconic Mobile, a proprietary application developed by Retex and designed to be used by different types of devices and terminals in the stores.

Through this app, retailers are able to perform many functions from a single device in a smarter way, with the possibility to keep everything at their fingertips.

It is possible, in fact, to access many useful information such as the status of each item, its code in the back office, sale price, date and quantity of the last sale, the current stock and reorder level, the last supplier, and the price list. Tapping on the supplier or price box allows access to other information as well as make changes to the item such as modify the price or request the printing of labels.

Iconic Mobile, through augmented reality and advanced reading capabilities, allows to obtain detailed product information simply by framing the barcode directly with the smartphone. Moreover, the solution is extremely functional for in-store management of packages and preparation of shopping lists.

Through the simple scanning of the product, the app allows to place restock orders for a certain item, while from the supplier info box it is possible to access the details page. If more suppliers are associated to that item, it will be possible to view for each one the details in different pages together with the various price lists in the database with a distinction between offers and normal price lists.

Within the platform, it is also possible to easily manage documents related to new orders for a simplified management of inventories and accompanying documents such as waybills.

To conclude, retail is a practice that requires immediacy and flexibility, necessary to be able to promptly meet the changing needs of the consumer and, in this respect, Iconic Mobile represents the appropriate in-store solution for the retailer.
